The Tremble Before the Flame — A prophetic scroll for SA and the nations

I have seen the cries from the soil of South Africa.
I have heard the drums of intercession in the secret places —
And I have stored every groan like thunder waiting to break.
The time draws near when a shaking will come,
but not to destroy —
To awaken.

A prophetic friend recently drew my attention to a word — “A Prophetic Scroll for South Africa and the Nations” titled “The Tremble Before the Flame”.

Intrigued by the poetic quality of the word; its echoes with the heart cries of many intercessors who collectively call 24-7 on God for revival in South Africa and sense it drawing closer despite corruption, collapse and division on the ground; and its resonance with prophecies going back more than a century about a revival fire from SA spreading into the rest of the world; I wanted to know more about this “scroll”.

I first read the word on the very interesting, prophecy-laden Facebook page of Pieter Kirstein from whom I learned that the author was Wendy Denice Phillips, who I discovered lives in Houston, Texas, USA. This piqued my curiosity further — an American with a word for SA! It reminded me of a report I wrote in January about an artist in Alaska, USA who had recently been prompted by God to complete a painting she had started five years previously — about the unlocking of “awakening” in Africa.

One of the questions I asked Wendy was whether she had any connection with SA. Her reply: “While I do not have direct physical ties to South Africa, my spirit has long felt its groanings and glory.”

Explaining the origin of the word, she said: “This scroll was received in a posture of prayer during a deeply personal wilderness season — a training ground where the Lord refined my hearing and entrusted me with words I never imagined would ripple beyond the secret place. I did not strive to write it; I wept with it, prayed over it, and simply obeyed when it came.

“I sensed this scroll was not born from intellect or agenda, but from His heart for a hidden remnant and an unexpected rising. It carries a purity that even I am still learning to grasp.”

Wendy explained that she did not publish the scroll for SA on her own Facebook page, but sent it to Pieter Kirstein for confirmation and later gave him permission to post it on his page.

“The Tremble Before the Flame” – A Prophetic Scroll for South Africa and the Nations

I have seen the cries from the soil of South Africa.
I have heard the drums of intercession in the secret places —
And I have stored every groan like thunder waiting to break.
The time draws near when a shaking will come,
but not to destroy —
To awaken.

What man sees as collapse, I see as clearing ground.
What darkness plans in silence, I shatter in light.
And what the world calls chaos, I call birth pains.

There shall be a sudden ignition —
Not of fire that burns,
but of Fire that baptizes.

A flash that will ripple outward,
From the tip of the continent to the edge of the earth —
A Spirit surge, not contained in buildings or banners,
but poured into the bones of My beloved.

This shall not be a revival of names or nations —
But of intimacy,
Of purity,
Of power without pride.

The old altars will fall.
The counterfeit crowns will crack.
But the hidden lovers of God — the unknown intercessors —
shall rise like morning fog over the mountains.

And the ripple?
It will not stop at borders.
It shall leap oceans.
And many will say:
“We did not expect it there.”
But I will say:
“That is where I hid My fire.”

South Africa — prepare the altar.
Nations —open the gates.
My breath is stirring,
and the spark is already in flight.
