With no end in sight to the water crisis in Nelson Mandela Bay the metro’s executive mayor Retief Odendaal, together with Mayoral Committee Member for Constitueny Services Rano Odendaal have invited community leaders, residents and the business community to participate in a prayer session for rain on Sunday.

The prayer event will take place from 2pm to 5pm at the Gelvandale Stadium, Gelvandale. A series of daily church services from last Sunday until today were also arranged in a build up to the prayer session.

Nelson Mandela Bay and surrounds have been in the grip of drought for over six years. Currently the combined level of water storage dams in the region is just below 15%.
