Army of prophetic artists in action at Time2Rise event at weekend

An army of prophetic artists is rising, says Bloemfontein artist Marzanne Slabbert. who has gathered creatives from all nine provinces of South Africa to participate in the Time2Rise event outside Bloemfontein at the weekend where Christians are uniting to seek solutions for the nation.

She said 23 prophetic artists [see list at bottom of page] have said an enthusiastic YES to an invitation to take part in an exhibition and live painting action at the mass outdoor Christian gathering on Wilde Als Farm from October 6 to 8.  The number of artists could grow before the event, she said. Marzanne can be contacted at +27 79 976 1344 or

She said the exhibition will take place in a prophetic art tent at the venue. Everybody is welcome to come and view the hope-inspiring artworks that visually represent what God is showing to the artists in this season. They will be able to interact with the artists.

During the weekend programme, which includes a keynote speech by former chief justice Mogoeng Mogoeng and short messages from inspiring Christian leaders, and dedication of the nation to God, artists will take artworks to the stage and explain what they are saying. And if somebody gets a word from the Lord through the art they will be able to go up and explain, she said.

There will also be live painting during the event where some of the artists will be painting what the Lord is showing them there.

Marzanne, who started an online art store called PrenQmooi two years ago after she sensed God calling her into a journey of redeeming art, said she believes the weekend gathering of prophetic artists will also be a launchpad for more that the Lord wants to do to revive visual arts.

“So, I think this event is also going to be like where we will discuss how we can bring revival in the visual arts in our country. And then we’ll have a Zoom meeting after this event with all the artists that I now, know of. And we’ll put the word out there and see what the Lord wants to do after this event.”

She said artists have also agreed to participate in action groups that will carry out practical community-building projects around SA after the Time2Rise event.

Marzanne, says that for her, the gathering of artists from all over the country, feels like a natural progression of the journey she has been on since responding to a call to combine art, business and ministry. In the past few years she has connected with artists at various events around the country. She also had a vivid dream which she believes shows that God is busy reviving visual arts in SA in a similar way to how He revived worship music in the country over recent decades — and that the role of art will be to “come underneath the Church” and to serve the community.

She also feels that it is significant that next year there will be a general election in SA, seven years after a million believers prayed together at the It’s Time event on Wilde Als farm. Since then a Mighty Families event has been held on the farm each year — and now Time2Rise is happening there.

She says it is like when Nehemiah faced ridicule after he was moved to start rebuilding the broken walls of Jerusalem, and when the Israelites marched seven times around the walls of Jericho. God came through for His people on those occasions when they persevered in what He had called them to do in the face of seemingly overwhelming odds.

“And that is exactly what God is doing now. So we walked around those walls every year and the artists and the musicians are always at the front. And this is basically the final year and then next year is the election. So I really believe in my heart, that God is using the arts and using these events to bring about his plan in the country,” she said.
