Many parents, youth and children were among more than 1 000 people who attended a recent heartfelt prayer and repentance gathering in Franschhoek focused on reclaiming children captured by drugs, alcohol and promiscuity.
The event, on a school sports field beneath the Drakenstein Mountains on July 18, was the third in a series that the National Prayer of Repentance movement plans to eventually roll out in all nine provinces of South Africa. Like the first two events, in rural KwaZulu-Natal in July last year and in the rural Eastern Cape in April, the Franschhoek event was arranged in response to a prophetic word by Eastern Cape seer Khalipa Mboneli.
Khalipa told the gathering that in a vision on December 18 God had spoken to her about how the youth of SA had been captured spiritually and how government had been used to implement a demonic strategy to destroy families and rob youth of their future, She said God showed her that the prayer day should take place in the Western Cape near a statue of a dragon.

Princess Kholeka Mkheti, a Gauteng Intercessor and one of the coordinators of the event, said that the prayer, aligned with 2 Chronicles 7:14, Jeremiah 9 and other Scriptures, had been “at another level”. People cried out for the Holy Spirit to be returned to the National Anthem and for prayer to be returned to schools, she said, During an altar call led by a youth pastor, “children, youth and adults were convicted and gave their lives to Jesus Christ of Nazareth”,
Encouraging the gathering, Khalipa said that God will destroy everything that “has been planted by darkness in these provinces”. “We haven’t seen anything yet. For us, it’s just a matter of moving forward and doing the work,” she said.
