Last week Gateway News caught up with a Groot Brak couple who are celebrating their “jubilee year” (year of their 50th birthdays) by embarking on an extended Kingdom adventure including time in Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
When I spoke to businessman Pieter Terblanche and his family-practice-lawyer wife Melanie via a WhatsApp call, they were inspecting a plot of land outside Nairobi, Kenya, with a view to establishing a Christian healing centre.
Their time in Kenya – their first stop – included leading two Kingdom conferences at local churches and scouting potential healing centre sites. Pieter and Melanie, who were both ordained as pastors last year, are accompanied on the Africa leg of their journey by El-Azar du Plessis of Berashith Ministry in Bloemfontein, who has a vision to establish healing ministries in various African countries. This week the team is in Zanzibar, where they also plan to start a healing centre.

In a recent YouTube video inviting people to follow their Kingdom adventure, Melanie says they will attend a business event in Europe, then spend 40 days in Israel “walking in Jesus’s shoes”, then return to Europe where their itinerary will include 50 days walking the Camino de Santiago route in Spain. “So the Lord is taking us on a journey and He’s telling us exactly what to do. We’ve been praying about it. We’ve been hearing His voice and this is what we want to share on this journey,” she says.
During last week’s interview Pieter said that their Kingdom conference journey began with an event in Bloemfontein last year with El-Azar, and at Eagles Nest Ministry in George. He said they partner closely with Eagles Nest leader Jannie Horne, with whom they present radio programmes on Kingdom culture.
He said they feel that the Lord is calling them to Africa, to promote Kingdom transformation of nations through “training and trading” which they do under the banner of their company, Kingdom Transformations Africa.
“So we help leaders to do asset mapping in their churches, to see how they can manage their church not only for two hours on a Sunday but for the whole week, bringing the Kingdom into the marketplace,” he said.
To support their Kingdom transformation vision they have also established a Bible school in partnership with Dr Ziva Spannenberg, who is also president of the South African Council for Business Women, said Melanie. The aim of the school is to provide ongoing training and equipping beyond Kingdom conferences.
Melanie said the aim of establishing healing centres is to bring restoration from emotional trauma. “I work with abused women and children and I train social workers and I see there is a big problem of people getting reborn but their lives are still falling apart because of their soul ties and because there’s trauma that’s not been resolved.”
