In the video below marketplace Christian leader Dr Arno van Niekerk makes an urgent call on South African Christians to stand for Truth based on the Word of God in the face of intense pressure to reinterpret Scripture to conform with the standards of the world.
Last year Van Niekerk initiated a Christian Consensus survey campaign which identified 10 statements which it says represents what Christians want for SA and which were endorsed by about two million believers.
If the Church gives in to political correctness and compromises on the clear meaning of Scripture for the sake of a “false unity”, as the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) Synod did recently on gay lifestyles, it will contribute to the moral collapse of South Africa, he says in his video message this week.
Fortunately, he says, many ministers, congregations, and regions within the DRC — and other church groupings — are upholding biblical values and coming together to stand for God’s truth. One example is Moreletapark, a big Pretoria church in the DRC family, where a conference is being organised for DRC ministers and congregations who are unhappy with their Synod’s decisions on gays in the church, and who are committed to taking a stand on the Word of God.
