WATCH: Pressing Matters — How does the Church deal with transgenderism?

During his Pressing Matters podcast this week Christian media personality Afrika Mhlophe engaged medical professional Professor Reitz Rodseth on the question of “How should the church respond to transgender issues?”

One of the hot-button topics in contemporary culture, transgenderism made news headlines this week when world swimming body FINA revised its rules to prevent certain men who identify as women from participating in women’s swimming events.

Introducing himself at the start of the podcast, Rodseth, an anaesthesiologist, critical care specialist and clinical researcher with a passion for Christian apologetics said he became interested in the topic through his concern about how children may be affected by transgender issues.

Watch the video below in which he highlights the importance of differentiating between various medical conditions commonly labelled as “transgenderism” and discusses some of the key debates on medical and social responses to the issue.
