Evangelist inspired to prayer walk through Nelson Mandela Bay ahead of next year’s citywide crusade

Pastor Jimmy Davis, who led the Jesus Citywide Crusade in Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB) in September says he is inspired to prayer walk through all 60 wards of the metropole in preparation for next year’s evangelism campaign.

He said the idea was sparked by reading the book Walking the Walk by the late Bishop Eric Pike on his experience of completing the 200km Nehemiah Prayer Walk through Nelson Mandela Bay to launch the prayer route in 2019.

Pastor Jimmy told Gateway News he hopes to complete the walk in February, together with crusade team members and anybody who is keen to join them. He said they will also invite community members from each ward to join them as they traverse their neighbourhood. During the walk they will connect with churches in each ward and they will pray against curses over the city, poverty and crime — as well as for people to be open to the Gospel and for many people to receive Jesus,

He said that in this year’s campaign, which brought many local Christian leaders together, they reached about 16 000 people with the Gospel.

He said that in January he, and veteran city evangelist, Cecil Peasley, will lead an evangelism training conference to equip people for the upcoming citywide crusade in September. They also propose to start an evangelism training school.

He said they have also begun the process of booking the Westbourne Oval stadium in Gqeberha (PE) as a venue for the crusade.

Pastor Jimmy confirmed that he will be participating in citywide evangelism campaigns in Centurion, Klerksdorp and KwaZulu-Natal next year. He said these campaigns were inspired by this year’s initiative in NMB. He said he had also had requests from leaders in Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Lesotho, to assist with launching evangelism initiatives.
