Logos Hope due in Richards Bay on Sunday

The Logos Hope is coming to South Africa!

The OM mission ship and world’s largest floating book fair, Logos Hope, is due in Richards Bay on Sunday at the start of a five-month visit to South Africa which will include stopovers in five ports.

The SA port dates are:

  • Richards Bay — January 21 to February 18
  • Gqeberha (PE) — February 23 to March 17
  • East London — March 21 to April 9
  • Durban — May 8 to June 2
  • Cape Town — June 8 to June 24

During the ship’s time in Richards Bay members of the public will be able to visit from Tuesdays to Sundays — from 1pm to 7pm on all days except Saturdays when the hours will be from 11am to 7pm. The ship will be closed on Mondays. In addition to an opportunity to purchase books at reasonable prices from a selection of over 5 000 titles on a wide variety of topics, there will be various special events for everybody. The ship will be berthed in the small craft harbour. Entrance to the ship is R10, but is free for children under 12 and adults over 65.

Special visits are also being arranged for school groups.

The ship is manned by 400 volunteers from 60 nations. During its SA port visits teams from the ship will partner in ministry and service with churches and local Christians. Part of the team’s vision is to mobilise SA Christians for mission.

Currenly in Maputo, Logos Hope has been making its way down the east coast of Africa over the past year. After it leaves Cape Town in late June it will head for Walvis Bay, Namibia and up the west coast of the continent.
