Still time to register for Durban and Cape Town auditions
One Gospel’s SHINE talent search has been to Mamelodi Pretoria (4th and 5th August) and Soweto (10th to 12th August) for the first leg of auditions. Next stops will be Umlazi – Durban (18th and 19th August) and Cape Town — Tygerberg Radio (25th and 26th August).
In Mamelodi many hopefuls came out to face judges Liezl Penniken, Steven Molakeng and Tshepo Maseko. Hundreds of entrants stood patiently in the queues for their chance to SHINE.
SHINE presenter, Fezile Makhanya commented: “The Shine Auditions in Mamelodi went well, it is certainly a building block for other regions to come in their masses. The quality of artists that auditioned was out of this world, looking forward to finding that rough diamond”.
In Pretoria however the entrants showed their enthusiasm and excitement about their quest to be the ultimate winner of SHINE. There was plenty of raw talent in Tshwane, leaving judges impressed but still feeling a lot of grooming would be necessary in the upcoming rounds of the competition. Judge Steven Molakeng commented:” Wow, Mamelodi lived up to its name (melody). There was so much talent, and mostly from young kids and adults, Mamelodi certainly didn’t disappoint. As to be expected there were bad ones but overall I was impressed with what Tshwane had to offer. I only wish we could take more people through to the next round. I hope my kasie (Soweto) is ready”.
We have not yet received a report on the Soweto auditions. Registration for Durban and Cape Town venues is now open. More details on how to enter can be found at www.facebook.com/onegospel
